Das Fest 2011

...another of my projects was Das Fest 2011, another of those creative event rooms we got for free to spread and celebrate the creativity within us. This time it was an old storage hall in the harbour of Birsfelden, and all the photos, videos and impressions you wish to see are here.

We used the hall in May and June and hosted brunches, performances, concerts, dinners...

Highlight for me was the performance of Mehrwertstücke and i took part in the preperfomance - you could watch me sew H&M plastic bags and transform them into fashion items...

been busy this season

...oh dear, the season is over and I realize that my blog couldn't keep up with the speed...
I apologize and give you a few pics one of my projects:

"Cap Verde" at the Werkschule Grundhof, a special school for special boys with special teachers - all very talented...
These impressions were taken at the final rehearsals - the students and teachers built the stage themselves!

living at home in all its glory: Schöner Wohnen

A town house with 9 apartments. Some have been living here for quite a while. Everyone knows everyone. More or less. You say hello and you help out with eggs, light bulbs and advice. The communal washing machine and utility room is taken proper care of and the hallways are kept clean.
"I love my neighbours", says Miss Egloff who lives on the third floor next to the unwed Miss Vicar, who isn't really a vicar. If Huguette from the ground floor really keeps illegally a dog in her flat, is a matter of much speculation. But once a woman is found dead in her apartment, the peace is gone...

An evening full of creepy, funny, strange stories from the world of living...

told by Charlotte Heinimann, directed by Paul Steinmann

Shows 24th, 25th, 26th and 31st of March and 1st, 2nd April at 20.30pm
at Teufelhof Basel, Leonhardsgraben 49

Mehrwertstücke...a performance

...and then I found these plastic bags. Loads of them. And when I heard there'd be the opportunity for a dance performance and experimental costumes, I decided to design "haute couture" out of H&M plastic bags and yellow bin liners and also these huge see through cover up plastics you would use to paint your house...

The performance was all about the worth and value of things and people and we asked ourselves these questions:
"what determines my worth?"
"how much am I willing to pay for..."
"are things always worth the prize I have to pay for? are they worth more? or less?"
The result was shown at the "Tourm" festival in Basel, enhanced by the music of John Featherstone , the idea and choreography came from Nathalie Frossard, the dancers were Nathalie, Basia Wehinger, Romana Ramer.

Time flew by...

...ever felt like time is just running by because you get so lost and passionate in what you do that while you become all alive and sparkling, just being in your element, the outside world ceases to exist...well - see what happened to me:

Here is what I spent part of my autumn with: Das Fest.
My friend and fellow artist Nathalie Frossard and I celebrated a festival of creativity in an event room that was given to us for free. So we invited all our friends, collegues and basically all artists we knew to fill this space with whatever they had been given. We were greatly inspired and encouraged by this fast growing adventure - make sure you watch the pics and videos in the link above!
